Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated on Wednesday that India's G20 presidency, which came to an end last months, provided an example of how such a powerful position should operate.

After speaking with his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, one after the other, Lavrov gave a press conference in Moscow and mentioned that New Delhi was able to prevent the final proclamation from the G20 Summit from becoming a "one-sided" document rather, the "balance of interests" between developed and rising countries reflected in it.
India's balanced foreign policy, which "speaks as equals" with wealthy nations of the so-called "Global North" as well as with nations of the "Global South," is seen by Moscow as "the only responsible policy that can ensure respect, defend the reputation and provide benefits for the country," according to Lavrov, who was questioned about the policy by a correspondent.
"The fundamental principles of the UN constitution, which emphasize respect for the sovereign equality of states, are reflected in this policy. Lavrov stated, "India is a striking example of this principle." He went on to say that Russia has always adhered to these rules "without attempting to be unobjective or to punish anyone." These don't align with our values. Rather, this is what we observe from the other group members' countries.
